Day 3 started pretty early, we had to be out of our BnB by 10:00, it had changed to 11:00 but I seemed to forget to tell everyone ;)
The plan for today was to head along the coast towards the Giant's Causeway via Dunce castle and then down the East coast to Whitehead, we couldn't check in until 4 o'clock so we had the whole day. It was a bit dreich, again but changeable so we were hopeful of a good day to explore.
First stop was Magheracross Viewpoint, we didn't know that at the time of setting off, we just came upon it as we drove towards Dunce and what a stop! It was still pretty windy but the weather was lifting and the sun was trying to shine. I looked around as I parked and a beautiful rainbow was forming back over Portrush and out to sea, we had seen rainbows every day so far.
I have to add, the viewpoints themselves are a wee bit scary!

I kind of believe in fate or, "whit's for ye'll no go by ye" If we hadn't got up early, left early, headed up this road early ....... either way, it was amazing to pull into a purpose built viewing point with an event like this going on, beautiful.

The rainbow started to fade but the rain and dark clouds stayed, I love dark skies and sunshine, the light on the cliffs below me, part of white rocks beach.

Impending rain over Portrush

I had to turn the other way and have a look towards Dunluce Castle, obviously the rainbow wouldn't be over that, sadly but, what a viewpoint.

There are a few things to note about the photo above, the location of the castle on the cliffs and the weather, behind me is the scenes above, impending rain dark skies and rainbows, East, all looks quite calm really!
I do enjoy a bit of Black and White photos too so, I've added a couple below, just because :)
Portrush in the first shot is looking West-ish and Dunluce in the second looking East-ish from the viewpoint.

It was pretty breezy up[ on the cliff tops so, I headed back to the car where the others were waiting snug in the warm and we headed on towards Dunluce.
Well, was I a happy fella? Parking at Dunluce I couldn't get out of the car quickly enough, the rainbow was there and stretching right over the castle and seascape, wonderful!

These are those 'right place, right time' shots we all see and wish we'd taken, just stunning, I could have stood here all morning, it was only 10:30!
